20/4/08 Introduction of the glaucoma assessment

First Optic have introduced a glaucoma assessment for patients at risk. This involves retinal photography, field analysis, contact tonometry (a type of pressure test), gonioscopy (assessment of the drainage channel for the internal fluid of the eye), and optic nerve sizing and assessment. Cost £45.00

19/4/08 Reaccreditation and Low Vision Training

Optometrist Patrick Round is currently undergoing reaccreditation for the Wales Eye care examination to ensure he is up to date with current protocol.

From September 2008, First Optic will be offering full low vision assessments. To be able to offer this, Patrick is currently undergoing training and examinations in the field of Low Vision.

1/9/07 Congratulations Keith!

Partner Keith Coakham has successfully completed his Optometry degree in Bradford with a 1st Class Honours! After further training and exams as a pre-registration student in 2008, the practice will be offering 6 days a week eye care all year round and extra services including home visits, low vision assessments and orthokeratology (a non-invasive alternative to laser vision correction).
